     Wilhelm Stamm, son of Hans Heinrich Stamm and Anna Catharina Hess, was born on 2 August 1831 at Neukirchen, Ziegenhain, Hessen-Nassau, German Confederation (Germany).1,9,3,8 He was baptized on 14 August 1831 at Neukirchen. His godfather was the veterinarian Wilhelm Dietz from Riebelsdorf.1

Wilhelm received a passport on 20 August 1850 at Ziegenhain.2,3

Wilhelm petitioned the court to become a citizen on 17 July 1854 at Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.4 He married Margaretha Elisa Neu on 2 September 1855 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of South Hills. Witnesses were Gottlieb Neu, Conrad Stamm and Maria Berg.10,6,9,12,13,15,7,8

Wilhelm began military service on 26 August 1864 at Pennsylvania.5 He ended military service on 30 June 1865 at Pittsburgh County, Pennsylvania.5

Wilhelm Stamm was listed as the head of household on the 1880 census recorded 10 June 1880 at Little Blue, Washington County, Kansas. Also living in the household were his wife, Margaretha Elisa Stamm, his sons, George J. Stamm, Gottlieb Stamm, John Stamm, Charles Stamm, Jacob Stamm, Henry Philipp Stamm and Benjamin Christian Stamm, his daughters, Elizabeth Stamm, Margaret Stamm, Mary Katharina Stamm and Salome Augusta Stamm. . Willliam was recorded as being a 48 year old farmer, born in Prussia.6

Wilhelm filed for a Civil War Pension on 8 August 1890 at Kansas.13

Wilhelm Stamm was listed as the head of household on the 1900 census recorded 11 June 1900 at Logan, Wayne County, Kansas. Also living in the household were, her sons, George J. Stamm, Henry Philipp Stamm and Benjamin Christian Stamm, her daughter, Salome Augusta Stamm . Wilhelm was recorded as being 68 years old and born in August 1831 in Germany. He had been married for 45 years. Wilhelm had immigrated in 1850 and worked as a farmer.9

Wilhelm died on 16 January 1903 at Washington, Washington County, Kansas, at age 71 years, 5 months and 14 days12,11,14, and was buried at Saint Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery.12 His son, George, was appointed administrator on 14 April 1903.11
