Curt Rybel, son of Lotzge Rybel, was born circa 1500 at Gungelshausen, Ziegenhain, Hessen-Nassau, Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He worked as a farmer on half of his father's farm, later known as Hahnshof, No. 3.1 In 1542, Curt paid "Türkensteuer" 20 Albus of 40 Gulden on the farm and 2 Gulden apprentice salary. He had four horses and six cows.1 Curt's sons, Hans Rübling and Heintz Rybel, drew up an inheritance contract in expectation of his death in 1570.1
