Samuel Wenski

     Samuel Wenski, son of Martin Wenski and Anna Susanne Wilhelmine Busse, was born on 24 September 1805 at Schwente (Święta), Flatow (Zlotów), Preußen (Germany). His godparents were the mayor of Plötzmin Michael Remus, who was his aunt's husband; the land owner from Schwente Gottlieb Remus; and Miss Maria Mielitz, the daughter of the mayor of Ruden.^2,6

Samuel married Wilhelmine Timm.^2,7

When his mother's estate was probated on 11 August 1831, Samuel Wenski inherited the mayoral estate.^7,8

According to the tax record of 1830, taxable income for the estate Schwente Nr. 2 included 425 bushels of rye, 216 bushels of barley, 152 bushels of oats, 12 bushels of buckwheat, and 72 bushels of peas. Also the livestock listed were 12 head of young cattle and over 300 sheep, as well as pigs. They were also taxed for fishing, for the buildings, and for 44 cart loads of lumber. From the total tax of 438 Taler 13 Silbergroschen and 9 Pfennige, there were 260 Taler 15 Silbergroschen deducted for a basic deduction, discharge of a debt, donations, fodder, pastor's salary, 2 bushels of rye and 3 bushels of barley given to the cowherder, 4 1/2 Metz of rye and 4 1/2 bushels of barley given to the pig herder, 1 bushel of rye and 1 bushel of barley given to the night watchman, 2 bushels of rye and 1 bushel of barley given to the village smith, 1 bushel of rye, 4 Metz of peas, and 1 cartload of lumber and other produce given to the teacher, and salaries for the servants. Further deductions were taken for loss of livestock, 3 cows, 110 sheep, and one breeding sow, and for repairs to the buildings. The value of the property after deductions was given as 4741 Taler and 15 Silbergroschen.⁹

On 2 August 1878, Samuel died of old age, at age 72 years, 10 months and 9 days, leaving Wilhelmine as a widow.^2,7
