     Ralph Lee Hock, son of Charles Peter Hock and Katherine Rebecca Smith, was born on 3 April 1891 at Philo, Muskingum County, Ohio.1,4,9,2,11 He was baptized on 4 March 1895 at St. John Church, Philo, Muskingum County. His godparents were his father and paternal grandmother, Caroline Hock.1

Ralph married Edith Dunaway on 26 February 1914 at Muskingum County, Ohio.2,5

Ralph registered for the draft for World War I on 5 June 1917, while living at Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Ralph was recorded as being born on 3 April 1891 in Philo, Ohio. He was a citizen. Ralph was employed as an order clerk with Baker Bros on Main Street in Zanesville. He was married and had one child. Ralph was of medium height and slender. He had brown eyes and brown hair.3

Ralph died on 26 September 1975 at Muskingum County, Ohio, at age 84 years, 5 months and 23 days9,11, and was buried at Duncan Falls.11

    The undersigned respectfully makes application for a Marriage License for said parties, and upon oath
    states: that said Ralph Hock is 22 years of age, on the 3
    day of Apr 1914, his residence is Zanesville, his place
    of birth is Philo, his occupation is tilemaker
    his father's name is Charles Hock, his mother's maiden name was
    Catherine Smith, that he was not previously married
    and that he has no wife living.
    That said Edith Dunaway is 22 years of age on the 25
    day of Feby 1914, her residence is So. Zanesvile in said
    Muskingum County, Ohio, her place of birth is Washington, her occupation
    is H.K. her father's name is Daniel Dunaway, her
    mother's maiden name was Mary Thompson that she was not previously
    married, and is a widow or divorced woman, her married name being
    that she has no husband living.
    That neither of said parties is an habitual drunkard, epileptic, imbecile or insame, or under the influence
    of any intoxicating liquor or narcotic drug.
    Said parties are not nearer of kin than second cousins, and there is no legal impediment to their marriage.
    It is expected that Rev. Holcomb is to solemnize the
    marriage of said parties.
