     Johann Jacob Diehl, son of Andreas Diehl and Elisabetha Salomea Gortner, was born on 3 September 1782 at Niederbexbach, (Saar-Pfalz-Kreis), (Saarland), Holy Roman Empire (Germany). His godparents were Georg Jacob Diehl and Katharina Gortner, both from Niederbexbach.1,3,2 He married Maria Magdalena Schleppi, daughter of Balthasar Schleppi and Maria Margaretha Hock, on 5 May 1810 at Limbach, (Saarland), France. Witnesses were Andreas Diehl, father of the groom, farmer from Niederbexbach, 50 years old, Balthasar Schleppi, farmer from Niederbexbach, 66 years old, Ludwig Hippert, day laborer from Limbach, 55 years old, and Balthasar Strobel, linen weaver from Limbach, 30 years old.2,5,6 He worked as a farmer at Niederbexbach.2,3

Jacob died on 19 July 1842 at Niederbexbach at age 59 years, 10 months and 16 days.3 He was buried on 22 July 1842 at Niederbexbach.3
