Johann Nickolaus Grub, son of Johann Nicolas Grub and Sophie Leibrock, was born circa 1813 at Limbach, (Saarland), France.2 He married Katharina Leibrock, daughter of Johann Balthasar Leibrock and Maria Susanna Lehmann, on 1 September 1835 at Limbach. Witnesses were Peter Heinz, brother-in-law of the groom, veterinarian, 37 years old, from Homburg, brother of the groom, Daniel Grub, Ackerer, 28 years old, from Limbach, Ludwig Bettinger, day laborer, 22 years old, from Limbach, and Daniel Bettinger, day laborer, 29 years old, from Limbach.4,2,5 On 24 September 1835, they also married in the church at Kirkel-Neuhäusel, Homburg, Rheinkreis, Bayern, German Confederation (Germany).3 He worked as a farmer at Limbach.6
Nikolaus was the godfather of his niece, Carolina Grub at her baptism on 12 August 1855 at Limbach.7 On 31 January 1858, he was the godfather of Christian Leibrock at his baptism at Limbach.8
Katharina died on 1 December 1872, at Eschweiler Hof at age 55, leaving Nikolaus as a widower at the age of 59 years.5
