Johann Eberhard Hungrighausen was the son of Johann Hungrighausen and Anna Barger.4 He enrolled at the Universität Herborn on 18 January 1613.4 Later Eberhard became a state magistrate at Beilstein, (Lahn-Dill-Kreis),1,2,8,10,11 and at Mengerskirchen, (Limburg-Weilburg), (Hessen), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).3
Eberhard married Anna Maria Daum, daughter of Johann Daum and Maria Klara Keßler.12,13,6,8
During the Thirty Years War, local commanders in the area of Beilstein had to be particularly vigilant, because Imperial troops would drop by unexpectedly, and detain them. In 1635, a company of Count Ludwig Heinrich's cavalry regiment under the leadership of Count Wilhelm the younger of Solms-Greifenstein, was transferred to Mengerskirchen to defend Westerwald. The young count forgot to post a guard and to send out a patrol. On 1 October 1635, just before dawn, the Imperial soldiers, took ladders from the barns outside of Mengerskirchen, and used them to storm the walls. Having accomplished that, they then burst open the gates. Count Wilhelm was forced to surrender. Four lives were lost, along with 70 riders and horses. The captured cavalry soldiers were removed to Gau-Dernbach. Mengerskirchen was totally plundered. Two hundred Reichstaler were stolen from Eberhard and his household possessions were smashed.3
Eberhard was the godfather of Gutta Wüstenhöffer on 27 October 1638 at Beilstein.1
On 31 August 1641, Eberhard died at Beilstein leaving Maria as a widow. His death was caused by an accident on the bridge.2,13,6,8 He was buried on 4 September 1641 at Beilstein.2
His heirs were Johann Moritz Hungrighausen, Anton Friedrich Hungrighausen, Johann Wilhelm Hungrighausen, and Johanetta Hungrighausen.5
