The Hauser Damm Mill, first mentioned in 1491 in the medieval accounting of Ellar as the Hauser or Damm Mill on the Lasterbach, is over 500 years old. The mill is located in the village of Hausen in the district of Mengerskirchen. It belonged to the under aged sovereign of Nassau-Hadamar, Count Johann-Ludwig, and was sold by his guardians, the counts of Solms and Sayn, in 1612 for 200 Gulden to Johann Hungrighausen. After only two years, the mill was purchased back by the Count, and remained in possession of the sovereignty until 1688, when Count Franz-Alexander sold it to Johann Blank.7 In addition, Johann owned a house and land at Rennerod, (Westerwaldkreis), (Rheinland-Pfalz). The house was burnt to the ground during the Thirty Years War.5

Johann was the godfather of Johann Jacob Christ, son of Henches Christ. The mother of the child died of the Black Plague before the baptism. Because Johann was unable to attend the baptism, he was represented by the local teacher, Best Lang, on 7 April 1613 at Nenderoth, (Lahn-Dill-Kreis), (Hessen), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).2 He was also the godfather of Johann Jost, son of Best Baum from Münschhausen, and his wife Eva on 19 December 1613 at Nenderoth.4
