Philipp Lawall, son of Philipp Lawall and Juliana Zöller, was born on 10 October 1844 at Obersülzen, (Bad Dürkheim), Rheinpfalz, Deutscher Bund.1,4,14,10 He was baptized on 20 October 1844 at Obersülzen. His godparents were Elisabetha Zöller from Kirchheim, and his father.1

Philipp Lawall began military service on 26 February 1863 Company D 1st Regiment of Light Artillery Ohio Volunteers.4 He was honorably discharged from military service on 15 July 1865.4
