Mother | Susanna Splittgerber2 |
Daniel Wenski was the son of David Wenski and Susanna Splittgerber.2
At the death of his father, Daniel inherited the mayoral estate at Schwente (Święta), Flatow (Złotów), Poland.3 He inherited the estate during a difficult time. The Germans were being persecuted by the Poles, who brought many of the protestant German families to ruin, and caused others to emigrate. They also instituted high taxes for the Germans, causing Daniel to face debt.
His brother, Christoph, loaned him money time and again. Daniel became very tired of the situation, and decided it was time to give the mayoral estate to Christoph.
The contract was signed at Jastrowie (Jastrow) on 19 June 1768. This contract included payment to their brother Ludwig of his portion of their father's estate. He was also to receive the portion that would have gone to their deceased brother Martin. Daniel promised Christoph 163 Reichstaler for his portion of the father's estate, 40 Reichstaler for a pair of oxen, seed barley, and 17 Reichstaler and 2 Polish Gulden for Martin's portion of the father's estate. In addition he agreed to pay Christoph back for the money lent to him, a total of 382 Reichstaler.4
