     József Kober, son of Georgius Kober and Rosalia Hermele, was born on 21 March 1885 at Pîncota, Arad, Romania.1,18,8,7,9,10,14 He was baptized on 22 March 1885 at Pîncota. His godparents were Andreas Brunner and Maria Khober, both peasants. He was baptized by Aloysius Magyari.1,11,12,14

On 30 January 1909, József immigrated on the ship Caronia, departing from the independent free state of Fiume, today Rijeka in Croatia, intending to go to his sister-in-law Anna Kober, living at 930 Ridge Road, West Seneca, New York. This sister-in-law, probably a different relationship than sister-in-law, has not been found.6,17 He resided at Bloomington since 16 February 1909.7

Joseph filed his declaration of intent on 26 May 1924 at Bloomington.7 In 1925, Joseph and Mary resided at 1310 W. Forest St., Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois.8 He was naturalized on 7 February 1925 at Bloomington.8,7

On 27 April 1942, Joseph registered for the draft for World War I while living at Bloomington. Joseph was recorded as being 57 years old and born on 22 March 1885 in Hungary. He resided at 1310 W. Forrest in Bloomington. For the name of the person who would always know his address he gave Ferdinand M. Szabador of 1311 N. Livingston Street. Joseph was unemployed. His height was given as 5' 9", and weight as 140 lbs. He had brown eyes, was bald and had a light complexion.12,11

A notice of hospital admittance and dismissal were found for Joseph in the local newspaper, the Pantagraph, for 24 and 25 September 1944.15,16

Joseph died on 4 October 1947 at Bloomington at age 62 years, 6 months and 13 days9,10,13, and was buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.10,9
