     Donald Kober, son of Joseph A. Kober and Gertrude Quinn, was born on 27 March 1944 at Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois.1,3

Donald "Don" Joseph Kober, 61 of Elkins, AR died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at his home. He was born March 27, 1944 in Bloomington, IL, to Joseph Andrew and Gertrude Quinn Kober.
He married the former Marilyn Sherwood on December 28, 1972 in New York. They moved to the Elkins area in November 1994 from Iowa. He was employed by the City of Fayetteville in the transportation department for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Marilyn Kober of Elkins, AR; 1 son, Daniel Kober of Pekin, IL; 4 daughters, Lisa Ludolph of Peoria, IL, Shawn Askew of Coralville, IA, Megan Forsyth of North Liberty, IA, Tara Kober of Elkins, AR; sister, Dorothy Henninger of Burgin, KY and 6 grandchildren.
Don came to Coralville in 1971 and was the owner of Mr. Quick restaurant. In 1978 he joined the Hy-Vee team and managed the Deli until 1994, when he decided to change careers and move to a warmer climate.
Don was a co-founder of The Wanderers Custom Car Club and organizer of the Coralville Cruise Car Show at S.T. Morrison Park. He was very active in show car and motorsport communities. In the late 60's he drag raced a fast back Mustang called "The Wild Mule" at Cordova Raceway and others on the Illinois, Missouri and Iowa circuit. He had a never ending love affair with cars that began in early high school. He made many friends through his love of cars, spanning the country and generations. Even now the customized work continues on a 1961 T-Bird he was building.
During his years in Arkansas he enjoyed the beautiful countryside and wildlife in his backyard. He was an avid landscaper and gardener.
A celebration of Don's life will be held from 5-10 p.m. today at the North Liberty Recreation Center, 520 W Cherry St, North Liberty, IA. All friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local animal shelter or humane society. Don was a friend to all animals, and had given homes to many in his life.
on 11 October 2005 at Elkins, Arkansas, at age 61 years, 6 months and 14 days.3
