Wilhelm Herhammer was born on 17 May 1828 at Mehlbach, Kaiserslautern, Rheinkreis, Bayern.1 He married Katharine Altmus, daughter of Philipp Heinrich Altmus and Philippine Walter, on 29 May 1856 in the house of the mayor of Mehlbach.1,2 He worked as a servant and street keeper at Mehlbach.1,2
Katharine died on 21 May 1881 at Mehlbach at age 56, leaving Wilhelm as a widower at the age of 53 years.1
On 27 November 1903, Wilhelm died at Mehlbach at age 75 years, 6 months and 10 days.1
