     Nick Martinico was born on 12 January 1936 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.3,1,4 He married Carol Leppla, daughter of Otto P. Leppla and Paula Wilms, on 31 May 1958 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.2,1

Nick died on 6 April 2016 at Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, at age 80 years, 2 months and 25 days. His obituary reads as follows:
Nicholas Martinico, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 6, surrounded by family and loved ones in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nicholas was born in Brooklyn, New York to Salvatore and Antoinette (Calamia) Martinico on January 12, 1936. He married Carol Gertrude Leppla on May 31, 1958 in Brooklyn. Nicholas attended school in Brooklyn prior to moving and graduating Arizona State University with a Master’s Degree. He worked as a Biology teacher for Madison School District for 35 years. He participated in a group called the Science Wizards for Madison School District while being a tax-preparer for 15 years, before officially retiring. He stayed active in the Church and his college chapter, Delta Upsilon. Nick loved spending his free time rooting for the ASU sports teams, football especially. He was an old-school Italian family man who loved his entire family with no restrictions or conditions, unless you were in his kitchen. Nick loved preparing and cooking meals for family dinners, and did not accept input or criticism, but appreciated the help. Gardening was another of Nick’s hobbies, and he maintained his yard and foliage until the day he passed.

Nicholas is preceded in death by Salvatore, his father, Antoinette, his mother, and Jack, his brother.

Nicholas is survived by Carol Martinico and their children, Jo Ann, Nicholas and Diane Martinico. His grandchildren; Chiffon Cameron, Christopher Cameron, Samantha Martinico, Melissa Martinico, Crystal Martinico, and Victoria Martinico. His great-grandchildren; Nicholas and Antoinette Cameron.

Memorials, if any, may be given to Saint Mary’s Food Bank.

The family of Nicholas wishes to extend our sincere thanks to family and friends who supported and comforted us during this difficult time.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria. Funeral Service Wednesday, April 13 at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Chapel with Pastor Neva of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery.1
