     Mattheis Braun, son of Johann Nicolas Simon Braun and Maria Fronica (--?--), was born at Wolfstein, (Kusel), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He was baptized on 18 August 1697 at Wolfstein. His godparents were Matheiß Schwartz, Anna Margretha, wife of Caspar Frieß, and Margaretha, wife of Velten Jekel.1
