     Johann Jacob Braun, son of Jacob Braun and Anna Catharina Gödel, was born on 28 May 1740 at Wolfstein, (Kusel), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He was baptized on 2 June 1740 at Wolfstein. His godparents were Johann Jacob Jung from Wolfstein, Johann Nicolaus Gödel, and Maria Barbara, wife of Georg Steinmetz, both from Wörsbach.1 He married Anna Margaretha Bauer on 20 October 1772 at Wolfstein, (Kusel), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany). She was the widow of Christian König.2
