     Johann Jacob Steffan, son of Johann Valentin Steffan and Anna Elisabetha Brätti, was born on 18 June 1753 at Mörsbach, (Zweibrücken), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He was baptized on 24 June 1753. His godparents were Jacob Stephan from Mörsbach, and Susanna Catharina, wife of Peter Stephan from Oberauerbach.1
