     Maria Dorothea Welsch, daughter of Johannes Welsch and Maria Martha Helfenstein, was born on 14 March 1765 at Baumholder, (Birkenfeld), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 She was baptized on 19 March 1765 at Baumholder. Her godparents were Jacob Lauer from Langenbach, Dorothea Elisabeth A__ wife of Jungblutt, and Maria Dorothea B__.1
