     Franz Kaufmann, son of Johann Kaufmann and Margaretha Weissmann, was born on 23 February 1871 at Mehlbach, Kaiserslautern, Rheinpfalz, Bayern.1 He married Eleonore Gehm, daughter of Jakob Gehm and Magdalena Zapp.1 He worked as a bricklayer and butcher.1

Eleonore died on 23 August 1904 at Mehlbach at age 32, leaving Franz as a widower at the age of 33 years.1

Second, Franz married Karoline Simon, daughter of Martin Simon and Katharina Dick, after 23 August 1904.1

Franz died on 8 July 1931 at Mehlbach at age 60 years, 4 months and 15 days.1
