     Johann Balthasar Wolf, son of Johann Philipp Wolf and Anna Elisabeth Salome Istemann, was born at Rieschweiler, (Pirmasens), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).3 He was baptized on 7 September 1733 at Rieschweiler. His godparents were Johann Balthasar Istemann, theology student, legitimate son of Isaac Istemann, pastor in Rieschweiler, his uncle, Johann Jacob, legitimate son of the deceased Johann Georg Wolf from Rieschweiler, and Esther Loisa, wife of Isaac Istemannn, citizen and saddlemaker in Zweibrücken.1 He was confirmed on 6 April 1749 at Rieschweiler.2
