Christian Buchmann was baptized on 28 September 1710 at Rieschweiler, (Rheinland-Pfalz). His godparents were Christian, legitimate son of Johann Jacob Schärrer, Johann Jacob Wydler, linenweaver and lay member of the court in Rieschweiler, Katharina, wife of Isaac Istemann, Pfarrer in Rieschweiler, and Anna Katharina, wife of Johann Georg Schärrer, lay member of the court in Mühlbach.1 He, son of Johann Jacob Buchmann and Anna Katharina Gut, was born at Nünschweiler, (Pirmasens), (Rheinland-Pfalz), Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He married Catharina Elisabetha Wolf, daughter of Johann Philipp Wolf and Anna Elisabeth Salome Istemann, on 4 January 1774 at Rieschweiler. It is uncertain whether this is the correct Christian Buchmann, although both baptism and marriage records list Jacob Buchmann as the father. This seem like a very late marriage, and no earlier marriage was found in Rieschweiler. Catharina war die Witwe des Christian Guth.2,5 Christian worked as a linen weaver and was a citizen with full rights at Rieschweiler.2,6,7,4

A son, Friedrich Balthasar, was born to Christian and Catharina on 19 November 17748, who died on 7 February 1775 at age 2 months and 19 days.4

Another son, Johann Christian, was born to them on 24 January 17769, a son, Johann Jacob, circa 28 April 177710,11, a daughter, Catharina Elisabeth, circa June 178312, who died on 1 January 1784.12 They had a son, Heinrich Christian, born circa March 178613, who died on 7 April 1786.13

Catharina Elisabetha died on 16 August 1788, at Rieschweiler at the age of 46 years and 9 months, leaving Christian as a widower.5
