Karl Hilpert, son of Jakob Hilpert and Katharina Schneider, was born on 5 July 1883 at Limbach, Homburg, Rheinpfalz, Bayern.1,2 He was baptized on 18 July 1883 at Limbach. His godparents were his uncle, Ludwig Hilpert, miner, and his aunt, Eva Schneider, wife of Christian Müller, both residents of Limbach.1
Karl Hilpert began military service on 21 October 1905.2
Karl married Wilhelmine Müller, daughter of Christian Müller and Maria Schneider, on 4 September 1910 at Limbach.3,4,2 He worked as a shoemaker.2
Karl fought in a battle at Lothringen between 20 August 1914 and 12 August 1914.2 Between 22 August 1914 and 11 September 1914, Karl fought in a battle at Luneville.2 He fought in a battle at Sommes between 27 September 1914 and 6 October 1914.2 Between 6 October 1914 and 22 October 1914, Karl fought in trench warfare at Montauban.2 He fought in a battle at Ypern, Westflandern, Flandern, Belgien, between 30 October 1914 and 24 November 1914.2 He fought in trench warfare at Wytschaete between 25 November 1914 and 14 December 1914.2 Between 14 December 1914 and 24 December 1914, Karl fought in a battle at Flandre.2 Karl fought in trench warfare at Wytschaete between 25 December 1914 and 8 March 1915.2 Between 28 March 1915 and 22 May 1916, Karl fought in trench warfare at Sommes.2 Karl fought in a battle at Sommes between 17 June 1916 and 4 July 1916.2 Karl died on 4 July 1916 at 4 a.m. by artillery fire at Thiepval, at age 32 years, 11 months and 29 days, leaving Wilhelmine as a widow.3,2
