Henchen Schmit, son of Hen Smidtt and (--?--) (--?--), was born circa 1500 at Zella, Ziegenhain, Hessen-Nassau, Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 Henchen Schmit was also known as Henne Schmidt.1 He married (--?--) (--?--) circa 1530.1 He worked as a farmer at Zella.1
In 1555, Henchen brought an action again Simon Schmerer, the miller, who created a pond inequitably and was convicted. He needed to recover the meadow for the claimants Henchen Schmit and his siblings.1
