Johannes Schmidt, son of Hans Curt Schmidt and Anna Elisabetha Jox, was born on 27 June 1831 at Wiera, Ziegenhain, Hessen-Nassau, German Confederation (Germany).1 He married Katharina Heynmöller, daughter of Johann Heinrich Heynmöller and Anna Gela Glintzer, on 25 July 1858 at Wiera.2 He worked as a farmer on Hof Nr. 38 at Wiera.2
Katharina Schmidt died on 10 January 1861, at Wiera at age 28, leaving Johannes as a widower at the age of 29 years.2
Second, Johannes married Anna Elisabeth Heynmöller, daughter of Johann Heinrich Heynmöller and Anna Gela Glintzer, on 7 April 1862 at Wiera. She was the sister of his first wife.2
On 17 July 1875, Johannes died at Wiera at age 44 years and 20 days, leaving Anna Elisabeth as a widow.2
