     Johann Martin Mertesheimer, son of Johann Georg Mertesheimer and Maria Catharina Esch, was born on 30 May 1785 at Obersülzen, (Bad Dürkheim), Mont Tonnerre, Holy Roman Empire (Germany).1 He was baptized on 1 June 1785 at Obersülzen. His godparents were Martin Mertesheimer, member of the court, and his wife Anna Dorothea.1
