Death of John Colehower
John Colehower, a pioneer of this State, died at his home on Third Street at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He has been in failing health for several months and his death was not unexpected. The deceased was a native of Pennsylvania, aged 74 years. He came to California in the early '50s and engaged in mining in the northern mines. Subsequently he settled in this valley, but he never lost his interest in mines and mining and counted those days he handled the pick among the happiest of his life. He was also a famous hunter, and delighted in the chase until the infirmities of age compelled him to relinquish the sport. Jack Colehower was a genial, whole souled man who had a host of friends. He was a king husband and father and had the respect of all who knew him. - Watsonville Register.1
