Ludwig Tropp was named Ludwig Dauernheim at birth.3 He, son of Anna Sophia Dauernheim, was born illegitimately on 30 June 1790 at Wölfersheim, (Wetteraukreis), Hessen-Darmstadt, Holy Roman Empire (Germany).3,5,6 He married Anna Catharina Gehring, daughter of Hartmann Gehring and Anna Catharina Ulrich, on 4 April 1820 at Wölfersheim. Witnesses were the teacher Eberhard Bangel and Johann Konrad Ullrich.1,7,3 Ludwig and Anna Catharina Tropp lived at Obbornhofen, Giessen, Hessen-Darmstadt, Holy Roman Empire (Germany).3 He worked as a master mason at Wölfersheim.6,3
On 15 April 1827, Ludwig and Anna lost their son, Heinrich, at the age of six years, six months, and nine days.8,9
Catharina died on 1 February 1828, at Wölfersheim leaving Ludwig Tropp as a widower at the age of 37 years.10,11,3
Ludwig died between 8-9 a.m on 26 February 1840 at Wölfersheim at the age of 49 years, 5 months and 25 days.6,3 He was buried at 2 p.m. On 28 February 1840 at Wölfersheim.6,3
